‘‘Koloniale Amnesie’ – colonial amnesia, consists of two portraits of and informed by colonialism and post-colonialism, dealing with the forgotten history of Germany’s colonial past. General definitions of colonialism often do not include Germany as a colonizing country. During my project research I found that many writings on the forgotten history of Germany’s colonial past termed this experience  ‘colonial amnesia’, which points to a society and state with a colonial past, but without a post-colonial presence. The images visualize not only ‘colonial amnesia’, but also colonial history and its cultural impact; a representation of something being so visible that it becomes invisible.
